Lady Amalthea

From: The Last Unicorn
Worn at: AWA 2006

The Last Unicorn has always been one of my favorite movies, so I’m really happy that I finally got around to making this costume. I started on it for AWA in 2004, but time ran out and it got set aside in favor of more difficult costumes. When I did finally pull it out to finish it two years later, it came together quickly. I drafted it from a wedding bodice, extending it into a dress and adding ribbons for the stitching down the front and the pockets. I painted the star on my forehead with Ben Nye stage makeup, but it doesn’t show up well. The wig I bought already had bangs but I should have added to them to make them fuller. It didn’t help that the wind was blowing like mad the day of the photoshoot. I also forgot to take my rings off for the photoshoot. Maybe I’ll redo this one someday in a cotton sateen.
